FAQs

What is your staff-to-student ratio?
Staffing ratios are based on the needs of each group to ensure appropriate supervision and support. On average, we maintain a ratio of approximately 1 instructor or aide for every 5 students. Some programs — particularly those designed for children with higher support needs — may have lower ratios to provide additional individualized support.
How are campers or students grouped?
Participants are thoughtfully matched based on age, developmental profile, and support needs to ensure appropriate peer groups for learning, social growth, and fun. Our goal is to create structured, supportive environments where every child can feel comfortable and successful.
Are there alternative sources of funding available?

Yes. We may offer limited scholarships to families with demonstrated financial need.

We are also vendored with Regional Centers and accept Self-Determination Program (SDP) funds. Families should contact their Regional Center service coordinator to explore available funding options. We also accept FMS funding.

Do you accept Regional Center funding?
Yes. Kids Like Me programs are vendored with Regional Centers. Vendor numbers vary by program (see individual camp pages for details). We also accept Self-Determination funding where applicable.
Do you allow personal aides to attend with a child?
1:1 aides from outside agencies must provide background check, fingerprinting, and tb test from their employer.

Depending on availability, we may be able to provide additional Kids Like Me staff support at an added cost. Please contact us to discuss your child’s specific needs.

Can my neurotypical child attend?
At this time, we do not allow aides employed through outside agencies to provide supervision or direct services during Kids Like Me after-school programs or camps.

However, depending on availability, we may be able to provide additional Kids Like Me staff support at an added cost. Please contact us to discuss your child’s specific needs.

Is transportation provided?
Kids Like Me programs are not affiliated with the Help Group school day. Parents or guardians are responsible for pick-up at the conclusion of after-school programs and camps.

What Our Families are Saying

“In addition to the awesome variety of classes, the staff is outstanding. The kids are well taken care of after school until you arrive to pick them up. My son benefits from each class and being exposed to something new. It opens his mind in so many ways and he’s so happy every time I pick him up. I would highly recommend this program to any parent!”

“The staff at the Kids Like Me Summer Camp went out of their way to treat my daughter and I with caring and respect. My daughter has such a great time during the activities, she doesn’t even notice she’s expanding her social skills!”

–Kids Like Me Parent

“My child has been attending Kids Like Me After School Program at Help Group for about a year. I absolutely love this program and wish it were year-round. For parents where time or access may be an issue, this program fills the gap so that our kids can still participate in activities that they may not usually get the chance due to their ability.”
