On Sunday, April 8, 2018, The Help Group hosted its 8th Annual Special Needs Resource Fair at the Autism Center on the Sherman Oaks campus. The free event attracted more than 600 parents, professionals and providers and provided an opportunity for them to connect with the resources available for the special needs community, including children with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, and emotional challenges.
A diverse mix of over 65 exhibitors were on hand from support groups, medical and therapeutic services, educational supports, financial and estate planning, advocacy services, respite services, recreational and camping programs, vocational and residential programs, and more.
The event featured opportunities for children and families to interact with therapy dogs from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs; visit with animals from Special Spirit, Inc. Therapeutic Riding Center; and play with friends on the open Hasbro playground.
Eleven attendees were also selected at random to win prizes, which included Hasbro games, Sharky’s gift cards, Trader Joe’s gift baskets, and a one-year subscription to LA Parent magazine.
Proceeds from the event will be directed to the Kids Like Me camps, offered during the summer, winter and spring at The Help Group’s Sherman Oaks and Culver City locations.
A special thank you goes out to:
